The examples below highlight projects personally led or co-led by Cre8Vantage founder Jim Wallace during engagements prior to establishing the company.
These engagements shaped the Cre8Vantage model — forging the right partnerships, defining strategic direction, and aligning stakeholders to deliver commercial outcomes.
Case Study 1 — Dynamic Safety Cockpit for Automotive HMI
Context
Before founding Cre8Vantage, Jim Wallace worked as part of a cross functional team to redefine the in-vehicle driver experience.
Challenge
Cockpit displays were limited to static 2D interfaces, restricting their ability to deliver:
- real-time safety-critical content,
- rich visual experiences,
- differentiation for Tier-1 and OEM customers.
This gap was growing as drivers increasingly expected high-performance, connected UX in modern vehicles.
Approach & Contribution
As part of a collaboration with a Tier-1 partner, silicon provider, IP vendors, and automotive software specialists, we
- aligned stakeholders behind a new HMI concept,
- translated technical capability into value propositions OEMs could act on,
- connected emerging GPU capability to commercial use-cases,
- facilitated partner collaboration and ecosystem acceleration.
This led to development of an ASIL-B Cockpit Domain Controller PoC, capable of rendering mixed-criticality 3D visual content in real time — moving the industry beyond static displays.
Outcome
The proof of concept demonstrated that dynamic, safety-centric cockpit environments are feasible, commercially relevant, and highly differentiating.
It turned safety from a compliance burden into a competitive advantage.
Partner Benefits
Tier-1 Partner
- Delivered premium cockpit UX on affordable silicon
- Strengthened OEM engagement
- Reframed HMI as a revenue lever
Silicon Partner
- Reinforced leadership in automotive safety compute
- Showcased performance aligned to next-generation cockpits
- Opened new pathways to Tier-1 adoption
OS & IP Partners

- Enabled competitive differentiation
- Reduced customer churn while keeping costs low
Case Study 2 — Reducing Compute Costs in Autonomous Vehicles
Context
Before founding Cre8Vantage, Jim led the semiconductor engagement with a leading automotive OEM as they developed an ASIC strategy to enable a thin-client Autonomous Vehicle platform.
Challenge
Industry momentum was trending toward server-like architectures inside vehicles, driving:
- escalating BOM cost,
- increased thermal and power budgets,
- longer development cycles,
- unattractive economics for scale deployment
Approach & Contribution
As the semiconductor lead, Jim helped translate the OEM’s thin-client architecture into a viable compute pathway by:
- providing cost and feasibility analysis of semiconductor options to inform architectural trade-offs
- aligning engineering goals with commercial economics
- coordinating partner engagement to reduce technical and delivery risk
This work enabled the OEM to progress toward a lower-cost compute ASIC aligned to its autonomy roadmap.
Outcome
The initiative reframed autonomy economics:
not all intelligence must sit on-vehicle,
and not all performance requires monolithic compute.
It translated a conceptual architecture into a practical semiconductor execution path.
OEM Benefits
- Reduced compute cost
- Lower power budgets
- Healthier platform economics for mass deployment
